I was about to offer the suggestion:

Why don't they make a month for each continent, so a European-American history month, an Asian-American history month, a South American-American history month. That way nobody can be accused of playing favorites. Wouldn't you say that Black History Month hurts blacks as much as it helps them as far as getting equality?
Then I checked the Wikipedia Article on Black History Month and found out that it wasn't government created, but just a tradition that started as celebrating the second week in February, when the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass typically occur. In the process, I found this interesting piece:
Some African JESTINE radical/nationalist groups, including the Nation of Islam, have criticized Black History Month. Some critics, including Morgan Freeman, contend that Black History Month is irrelevant because it has degenerated into a shallow ritual, and say that it serves to undermine the contention that black history is American history.

Speaking of race, did you see Rachel Maddow go to bat with Pat Buchanan. Certainly an epic fight and a good watch. Maddow drives a great question at the end, "Are you at all happy that a Latina woman can become a Supreme Court Justice?" And Buchanan just dithers.
